Winter will heat up in a face-off between the Chattanooga Mocs and the Salem Tigers! Here at the McKenzie Arena, the two teams will vie for a much-needed win to push their course back on track to contender status. The game, an exhibition to be broadcast nationwide by ESPN+, will commence on Saturday, December 21, setting the tone for the season’s remaining matches for 2024.
Despite a shaky series of games coming into this weekend, the Chattanooga Mocs are undaunted in securing a home win for their avid supporters. At the point, #11 sophomore guard Caia Elisaldez (10.6 PPG, 4.1 APG) runs the Mocs’ assault at every level in the paint and perimeter through well-placed dimes and daggers. #33 two-way forward Karsen Murphy (10.3 PPG, 0.7 BPG) adds an extra layer of attack for the team with her lethal precision from the three-point line. And hailing from Iceland, #5 Sigrun Olafsdottir (5.4 RPG, 3.6 APG) lends her quick hands to crash the boards, giving the reigning Southern Conference champions a definitive foothold in the backcourt.
2024 USCAA champions Salem Tigers are off to a challenging start themselves, and stealing a game on the road is a top priority. #4 guard Carine Pinkney (16.5 PPG, 1.9 APG) winds up an onslaught from deep downtown to shred the opposite defense into tatters. Backing Pinkney on the offensive is #32 forward Liliani Krause (11.7 PPG, 1.7 SPG), who seeks to finish her senior year with a highlight reel bang. Next, aim your eyes at the Tigers’ freshman phenom — #8 forward Carmen Vasquez (6.8 RPG). The rookie’s reputation in locking down rebounds has already earned her steady minutes of play, and her full-court kit keeps astounding by the minute.
